Prairie Walk

Tour an area of restored Blackland Prairie and enjoy the summer wildflowers in bloom on this prairie walk with Richard Freiheit, LLELA's Restoration Manager.

Participants will visit Barn Owl Ridge, an area of LLELA typically closed to the public, and learn about its restoration - from pasture land to self-sustaining prairie ecosystem.  As you enjoy the sights and sounds of the prairie, Richard will explain the processes of restoration, from prescribed burns to invasives' removal, native grass propagation and planting.

This prairie walk provides walk provides a firsthand look at how LLELA is fulfilling its mission "to preserve and restore native Texas ecosystems and biodiversity while providing opportunities for environmental education, research, and recreation".

For your comfort and safety, please wear long pants and closed-toed shoes and bring drinking water.  Sunscreen, a hat, and insect repellent are also recommended.

Free with paid $5/vehicle entry to LLELA.  Visit Friends of LLELA for more information.
